Guidance for UWE academics providing samples for External Examiners

For work marked directly in the Grade Centre:

Where the marking has been carried out directly in the Grade Centre, our recommendation would be for the Module Leader to ask the External Examiner to view the submissions and marking done in the Grade Centre itself. External Examiners have full access to the Grade Centre and so you can just point them to the appropriate column in the Grade Centre and provide details of the students you want them to review.

We have a recorded demo for instructors showing What External Examiners can see in the Grade Centre and we have guidance for External Examiners: How to access submissions and marking via the Grade Centre (as an External Examiner)

You can also point the External Examiner to the location of documents stored in the course such as the Module Handbook. If there are other documents that the External Examiner needs which are not available in the course, the External Examiner tool below can be used to upload those documents.

For work marked using the Spreadsheet Marking (Marks and Feedback) tool or outside of Blackboard:

Where marking has been carried out outside of Blackboad, our recommendation would be for the Module Leader to gather a sample in to a zip package and upload to the External Examiner tool in Blackboard.

The External Examiner function allows an academic to upload files and notes (see guidance links below) which can then be viewed by the External Examiner via their own tool in Blackboard.

Please note that from 4th September 23, access to the External Examiner tool will be directly from the Course Tools area.
