Can I mark anonymously?
Yes. When you set up the allocation, there is an option to set it up for anonymous marking. Students will be listed with an ID which is not identifiable to the marker. When they click into a students attempt, the Grade Centre view will display as 'Student 1 (usernames hidden)'.
Will I get notified when I‘m allocated marking?
Yes, any markers who have been allocated marking will receive an email to make them aware. The person allocating the work does not receive an email if allocating to themselves.
What other notifications does the UWE Allocation tool provide?
The tool only sends an email notification to the markers who have been allocated. There are no other notifications.
Can I allocate marking for any Blackboard assignment?
Yes, both manually created or ISIS fed assignments can be allocated using the UWE Allocation tool.
Please note that if your assignment has no due date, it will not appear in the list but you can still use the search to find it. It is advisable to make sure your assignment is no longer available to students before starting to mark.
Group assignments will display in the list but this type of assignment has not yet been catered for. We would recommend either marking directly in the Grade Centre or use Spreadsheet Marking (Marks and Feedback tool).
Can I allocate second marking?
No, the allocation tool will only allow you to allocate student submissions that have not already been marked. Once a first mark is entered, the submission cannot be re-allocated.
Can I allocate group assignments?
No. Group assignments will display in the list but this type of assignment has not yet been catered for. We would recommend either marking directly in the Grade Centre or use Spreadsheet Marking (Marks and Feedback tool).
Can I see student comments when allocating?
Yes, when using the Manual Selection option, at the top of the list of students, you will have a Show Student Comments link. If you select this, an additional column will display the comments.
Can I change the allocation?
Yes, you can edit the allocation by using the View Marking Allocations option. See How to edit or delete allocations already set up
Will the tool display all students who submitted?
Yes, when the allocation is first set up, the tool will display all students who have made an attempt as long as:
- Their latest attempts hasn't already got a mark in the Grade Centre
- They are still enabled on the module
Will students be able to see the mark?
As long as the Grade Centre column has been hidden from students and not included in other visible calculated columns, then students will not be able to see marks and feedback as they are saved.
Please make sure that the assignment column in the Grade Centre is hidden from students before marking starts.
If I delete allocation will it delete the submission, mark and feedback too?
No. Deleting the allocation just clears any marking allocations set. It will not delete any marks and feedback that have already been saved in the Grade Centre. See How to edit or delete allocations already set up
As Module Leader, can I see an overview of progress?
Yes, any instructor on the module can view the 'View Marking Allocations' page from the ellipses. This screen provides an overview of all the allocated students; the allocated marker; and the mark given (if one has been submitted). Alternatively, you will be able to see the marking in the Grade Centre column.
How can I give feedback on the UWE Allocation tool?
The UWE Allocation tool is a new tool and we welcome your feedback to help plan and prioritise further development. Please note that due to the way Blackboard Grade Centre manages assessment attempts, there are limitations on what can be implemented or changed.
Please email the Digital Learning Service with your feedback.
