Recording to an Assignment folder for a staff led student presentation

Staff led recordings of student presentations can be recorded using the Panopto recorder which has been installed on the desktop of UWE teaching room PC's. To open the recorder double click the Panopto icon on the desktop.

Important Note: Staff led student recordings must only be recorded into an assignment folder for the module. Recording them in the main module folder will result in students being able to see each other recordings. The assignment folder can be selected from the folder drop down menu within the Panopto recorder.

Important Note: For staff led recordings of student presentations Panopto should be logged in by the academic supervising the activity (i.e. logged in using an academics username and password). Logging in to Panopto using a student's username and password would allow them to delete or edit the recording.

Quick Steps: Recording a student presentation

  1. Ensure Panopto is logged in using your login details (academic login) and NOT the students login details

  3. Name your recording - We recommend that you retain the date and time information in your Session Name to help identify recordings.
  4. Setup your required Primary Sources – Important Note: Panopto must be connected to an audio device to record.
  5. Tick the appropriate Secondary Sources

Important Note 1: If you are using a PowerPoint presentation, the file must be saved to the desktop. If you open a PowerPoint file from any other location on the PC, the recording may fail to upload.

  6. Add any required PowerPoint slides via the PowerPoint tab and the Open a Presentation button (your PowerPoint slides will need to be opened from the computer desktop)
  7. Begin recording via the Begin recording prompt, via the record button or via the F8 key
  8. To stop recording click the Stop button or the F10 key
  9. When you have stopped the recording and have uploaded the file, you will be taken to the 'Manage Recordings' tab. Do not exit Panopto until your recording shows that it is processing.
