Staff Attachments Tool

This tool will help to ensure the correct staff are attached to the appropriate Blackboard modules

The tool is available for modules taught in the UK only and is for use by Module Leaders and Lecturers. Access to Blackboard modules for other types of staff users such as External Examiners and PALS will continue to be managed in ISIS via faculty SAT.

You can find the tool under course tools

As a Lecturer you can manage your own attachments via option 1 or 2.

As a Module Leader you can manage your staff on your module via option 3.

Manage All my attachments to blackboard modules

By clicking on this link you will see all of the current modules you are attached to. If you wish to be removed from certain modules because you have no involvement with them, select the tick box to the left of the module(s) and then select ‘Request remove by SAT’ - this will generate an email to your faculty SAT, requesting that they remove you from the selected module(s) in ISIS. You will receive a copy of this email. Your faculty SAT will action your request by removing you from that module run plus any future runs in ISIS. Once ISIS is updated, these changes will feed into Blackboard the following working day and update your attachments. The date that you requested removal is shown to the right of the module in the Staff Attachments tool.

If you have been manually added to a particular module by the Module Leader, you can remove yourself from the module immediately by selecting the Remove button. This option is only available where you have been manually attached to a module.

Request that I am removed from THIS module run and future runs

By clicking on the link ‘Please remove me from this module and future runs’, a request will be emailed to your faculty SAT with you copied in. When this is actioned by your faculty SAT, they will remove you from the module in ISIS – this will feed into Blackboard the following working day and remove your attachment to the module.

Attaching additional staff to this module and removing staff from this module

By selecting the button ‘Yes I am authorised’ the first page you will see is the Current Staff page where you can search the list of staff currently attached to the module.

Removing Staff

If you want to remove certain staff from your module, select the tick box to the left of the persons name and then select ‘Request remove by SAT’ (1). This will generate an email to your faculty SAT requesting that they remove the member(s) of staff from the module in ISIS - You will receive a copy of this email. Your faculty SAT will action your request by removing the staff member(s) from that particular module run plus any future runs in ISIS. Once ISIS is updated, these changes will feed into Blackboard the following working day and update the staff attached to the module.

If a staff member has been added manually by the module leader then there will be a Remove Button (2) next to their name, if this is selected then the staff member will be removed instantly.

Adding Staff

There is also an option to Add User (3), upon selecting this option you will be taken to a page where you can search for staff by their name. When you have found the staff member you want to add, you have the option of ‘Add Manually’ or ‘Request addition by SAT’.

It is important to understand the difference between these options in order to make the most appropriate selection.

If you select Add Manually, the lecturer will immediately be able to access the module in Blackboard, however, they will only be attached to this particular module run. Adding staff in this way will not add the member of staff to the module run in ISIS and therefore, their attachment will not copy over into future module runs.

An example of where this would be appropriate would be if the person needed quick access to the module in order to help with marking or cover sickness.

Choosing this option generates and email to the person you have added with yourself copied in.

If you select Request addition by SAT, this will generate an email to your faculty SAT requesting that the person is attached to the module run in ISIS. Both yourself and the person being added will receive a copy of this email. Once your faculty SAT action the request in ISIS, the changes will feed into Blackboard the following working day and the lecturer would then be able to access the module in Blackboard.

An example of where this would be appropriate would be if it is a new member of the teaching team who needs access to this run and future runs.
