Assessments expecting large file submissions

Blackboard is not suitable for receiving very large file submissions. If you have an assessment where student submission files could be in excess of 100MB, please instruct your students to save their file(s) in their UWE OneDrive and attach a link to their file (rather than the file itself) to their submission (see link to guidance below). This will provide a much better student experience when submitting to Blackboard.

Please be aware that students will still be able to edit their submitted file in OneDrive after their submission has been made in Blackboard. When marking, it is important to check the file properties to see when it was last edited (in file explorer, right click on the file and then click properties, this will show date last modified). If it has been modified after the submission deadline, you may wish to have a discussion with the student about it.

Using OneDrive for large file submissions - student guide

For submission files upto 100MB, students can attach the file to their submission attempt in the normal way. However, please make sure your students understand that the larger the file, the longer their submission will take to complete and so they must make their submission in plenty of time before the deadline. The date and time of submission is taken from the Blackboard server and is recorded when the submission is complete, not when the student clicks on Submit.
