The use of Student Group Courses
Student Group Courses
Occasionally there is a requirement to support learning that is not part of a formally validated award or to provide support across existing programmes or modules. Student Group Courses can be requested to meet this support need.
Approval of Student Group Course
Approval is required to set up a new Student Group Course. They must not be used to replace a module run or Programme course, and they must have a set end date.
An example use of a Student Group is to support learning, such as numeracy skills. Students can be enrolled on the student group course where they will find specific support. Similarly, there is sometimes a requirement to support specific projects or provide cross programme/ module communications.
Course Duration
The default duration of a Student Group is 18 Months from the time of the application. A maximum of 66 months (5 ½ Years) can be requested where there is specific requirement. Please include this requirement in the purpose of the group.
When a Student Group course is coming to end, you can request a new course through the Student Groups tool. If you need to extend an existing group course, please raise an IT Online support ticket via itonline@uwe.ac.uk.
