What marking tools are available

For summative work that HAS NOT been submitted via a single ISIS fed Blackboard Assignment:

Grade Column Mapping

Grade Column Mapping is a function to send a column of marks that you have entered in the Grade Centre, to an ISIS work item. In order to use Grade Column mapping, the ISIS work item would need to be set up accordingly.

Please see our Grade Column Mapping guidance for more detail.

For summative or formative work that HAS been submitted via a Blackboard Assignment:

Grade Centre

The Grade Centre is the standard Blackboard grading tool. It provides a grid type view of the student submissions for all Blackboard assessments. Markers click into the students assignment attempt and they can enter a mark and feedback. There is currently no allocation to markers and only one field to enter a mark.

Can I use Rubrics? Yes
Can I mark anonymously? Yes, each marker would need to select ‘Mark with Usernames hidden’
Can the Grade Centre allocate marking? No. Module Leaders would need to tell the marking team which students they should mark by student number or name)

Please see our What type of marking do you need to carry out? guidance to help you decide which tool is appropriate.

UWE Spreadsheet Marking

The UWE Spreadsheet Marking tool was developed by Blackboard for UWE. It provides the ability for the module leader to create zip packages of student submissions for the marking team. Each zip contains a spreadsheet to record the marks for that set of students as well as the student submitted files.

Each marker packages up their marked spreadsheet and feedback files into a new zip and uploads it back into the UWE Spreadsheet Marking tool. When ready, the module leader releases the marking packages.

Can I use Rubrics? You can't use the blackboard Rubric function but you could use a marking rubric outside of Blackboard.
Can I mark anonymously? Yes, if the ISIS work item is set to be anonymous.
Can I allocate marking? Yes. You can create packages of submissions for each marker.

Please see our What type of marking do you need to carry out? guidance to help you decide which tool is appropriate.
