What are blue ‘in-progress’ attempts in the Grade Centre?
When a student submits their assignment, there are two options:
Submit - these display in the Grade Centre as the yellow exclamation mark
Save as draft - these display in the Grade Centre as a blue clock. These ‘in-progress’ or ‘draft’ attempts are not available to view or mark as the student has not fully submitted their work.
The on-screen submit instructions tell students to use the ‘Submit’ button (screenshot 1). If a student selects ‘save draft’, they receive an on-screen warning letting them know their attempt is not submitted (screenshot 2). There will also be a warning on the Coursework area where they should be checking their receipt after submission (screenshot 3).
Is it possible to retrieve any work attached to a draft attempt?
If you can see a draft / in-progress attempt in a students cell in the Grade Centre, please raise a call with ITonline and the Application Support team will be able to check if the student attached any text or files to the draft attempt. If they did, you will be given the files to mark.
Are ‘Draft’ attempts a new thing?
No. Students have always had the option to save a draft. These are just more visible to you when marking in the Grade Centre.
