What is Online Assessment?

Online Assessment is being implemented as part of the Online Assessment Implementation project. The purpose is to improve the speed and delivery of marks and feedback to students. Online Assessment encompasses the end to end process from submission of coursework, through to marking and returning the marks and feedback to students, and also feeding the marks into ISIS.

What’s included in Online Assessment?

  • Automatically created (ISIS driven) assignments in Blackboard where students attach and submit their work
  • New! UWE Online Marking tool (in Blackboard)
  • Marks and Feedback tool (in Blackboard)
  • Offline Marking tool which can be used to mark offline with marking from either the UWE Online Marking tool or the Marks and Feedback tool
  • Protection of student anonymity in accordance with University policy (as confirmed by the Learning and Teaching Executive)

Important

Any assignments which have been created automatically from ISIS will have a column in the Blackboard Grade Centre. To protect student anonymity and provide for second marking, these assignments must not be marked using the Grade Centre. Once the marks have been agreed and released, they are displayed in the Grade Centre to instructors and to student’s via the Coursework tab in Blackboard.

Any manually created assignments will not be available to mark using the UWE Online Marking tool or the Marks and Feedback tool - they must be marked using the Grade Centre.
