Blackboard Annotate

Blackboard Annotate

Blackboard Annotate is an inline annotation tool which can be used in the Grade Centre. Essentially the tool allows markers to add on screen annotations which the student can then access and download as a pdf once marking has been made visible to them.

For more information including a video demonstration, please see the Blackboard Inc guidance.

Important notes

  1. Only certain file types are supported.
  2. The conversion process may affect the layout / display of some files and as such we would recommend that you download and open the document in it's native application so that you can check the layout and display.
  3. During our testing, we have identified that the Custom Stamp function does not save the stamp for use with subsequent submissions.
  4. Annotations are displayed to students in My Marks and the Coursework area.
  5. During the resit period, students who have passed lose access to My Marks and will therefore not be able to view their annotated feedback. Once the resit field board date has passed, they will have their access reinstated. If you are using the annotate tool, please make sure your students understand this.
  6. Annotate sessions expire after 60 minutes - to resume, click back into the student attempt.
