Lifecycle of a Module’s First Run and Resit Run in Blackboard (text version)

First run Blackboard course

up to 365 days before the run start date

  • Course feeds into Blackboard when module run confirmed in ISIS
  • Course made available by instructor

First Run Field Board locked

Where resit run is CONF:

  • Only referred students feed into the Blackboard course
  • Students that passed the first run stop feeding into the Blackboard course but will still have limited/guest access
  • Assessment work items for the resit feed into the first run Blackboard course

Where no CONF resit run:

  • Course name pre-fixed with the word ARCHIVED

First Run Field Board plus 180 days

Where no CONF resit run:

  • Instructor attachments to the course become disabled

Resit run Field Board locked

Where resit run is CONF:

  • Course name pre-fixed with the word ARCHIVED
  • Students that passed the first run will be included in the feed again and will have full access to the Blackboard course

Resit run Field Board plus 180 days

  • Instructor attachments to the course become disabled
  • Student attachments to the course continue

6 years after module run start date

The module run stops feeding into Blackboard when:

  • There are no longer any students attached to the module run with a valid username, or
  • 6 years after the module start date (whichever is sooner)

The Blackboard course becomes disabled and subsequently removed
