Syllabus outline:
Students will complete 3 practical tasks during this module consisting of researching, interpretation and evaluating the field, to be submitted as text and presentations, with supporting research material and/or a self evaluation.
Students are required to engage with and reflect upon their practice in relation to historical, social and political contexts.
Students are expected to apply their understanding to different project contexts, and analyse comparative methods of practical approaches.
The module provides students with the tools to critique and evaluate the working methods and accepted principles of participatory arts & media practice.
Teaching and Learning Methods:
A series of lectures, seminars, workshops and practical tasks, together with on-line lectures and discussions, run during the module. These are designed to support the development of intellectual and practical skills, and encourage students to debate and question their perception of participatory creative practice.
Progress is guided by on-line discussion, group seminars and individual tutorials. Submitted research files and completed tasks form a key part of the student’s learning.
Assessment is conducted through the delivery of projects (tasks) in response to a set brief, and a research file which outlines contextual research submitted as supporting material.
