Assessment Samples

When an External Examiners package is created in the Online Marking tool by the module leader or a manual package/file is uploaded to Blackboard, a link to that package will automatically be available in the External Examiner tool. Any External Examiner attached to that module run, will be able to access the package/files.

Your faculty SAT will notify you when a package is available for you to access.

Each module run has its own row on the screen. Displayed in the row you will be able to see the total number of packages for the module run and also how many of these are unread by yourself. To view the packages for the module run simply click on the View Packages/Samples link.

Please Note: The module teaching team has the ability to leave a note for you within the Assessment Samples tab. This note will only be visible if the teaching team has entered some text and can be viewed by clicking the View Package/Samples link.

Packages created for you will be displayed in a table form. Above the table you will be able to see any module notes that have been left for you by the teaching team.

Module Leaders are encouraged to upload the following documentation/files (if applicable) for each module run, using the order below:

  • Module Handbook (they can signpost you to where this sits in the Blackboard course using the note section, or they can upload it for you)
  • Assignment Brief (if separate to the handbook)
  • Assessment/marking criteria
  • Guidance for markers
  • Moderation report for the sample
  • Module Report (last years or this year’s depending on cycle)
  • Copy of Student Feedback (module evaluation and any mid-module feedback)

Excluded Documentation:

  • External Examiners can search for Module Specifications via a link to the Mod Spec Page on the External Examiner landing page.
  • The exams process is currently managed via SharePoint, and therefore exam and coursework (if applicable) questions and forms are available on SharePoint.

Note: student sample exam papers, and copies of coursework material where this is not available on Blackboard site (i.e. hard copy only) will be available at the scrutiny day or sent by post.
