Following recent media coverage regarding a criminal investigation into a UWE Bristol employee and subsequent speculation about whether they are continuing to be employed by us, we would like to make it clear that this individual is no longer an employee of the University.
As soon as we became aware of the allegations against this individual in April 2019, they were asked not to attend work pending the outcome of the court case. They have not been carrying out their job or been on our premises since then. As a result of their conviction in early July 2019 we began a formal investigation process and, as already stated, the individual now no longer works at UWE Bristol.
It is not appropriate for us to comment in more detail on individual cases, but we would like to reassure everyone that the safety and security of all our students, staff and visitors to the University is always our top priority.
