Final Year Graphic Design student, Ruth Harris's project, 'University of the Diverse' addresses the lack of diversity within educational institutions, with a particular focus upon universities. It seeks to provide solutions to the language, attitudes and initiatives that are currently in place with regards towards increasing racial diversity within this area.

Ruth summed up what the Degree Show means for her and other creative students by saying, “The Degree Show is an opportunity for my project, along with others, to be understood on a wider platform, but it also presents the prospect of attention and interest from industry. Preparing for the Degree Show has been an exciting experience, where the members of the course have come together to produce a final collaborative body of work. It is stirring to see the range of opinions, topics and views that are conveyed in this environment, and the degree show is the first insight, for others, into our expression of how we believe our creative practice can effect and influence the world. It is an ideal set up, not only for the possibility of attention or work following the show, but to demonstrate and exhibit our creative voice as we finish our degrees.”

UWE Bristol's Fashion Class of 2017 will also be staging a final presentation of their work on Saturday 3 June at 15:00 and 19:00 at the Arnolfini. For more information and to book a ticket visit the show website, where the event will also be live streamed at: http://51degreesbristol.com/
