UWE Gloucester – Open Day for nursing courses

Issue date: 16 June 2016

Adult Nursing at UWE Bristol

Saturday 18 June 2016

The Open Day is a chance to find out about careers in Adult Nursing and Mental Health Nursing at the Gloucester Campus of the University of the West of England, in the Alexandra Warehouse at Gloucester Docks.

Activities on offer include walking tours of facilities with student ambassadors, including IT facilities and the Library, as well as talks on BSc Hons Adult Nursing and BSc Hons Mental Health Nursing. In addition there will be a chance to spend time in the Skills Simulation Suite, getting a taste of what it would be like to use the bespoke nursing facilities.

Visitors will have the opportunity to talk to staff and current students about the course they are interested in, see the fantastic hands-on resources and gain a real flavour of University life.

The Alexandra Warehouse, a historic listed building, has been fully refurbished to a high specification and features a purpose-built skills and simulation suite, so students can take part in simulations and practice techniques which will be used on placement.

There are funding changes in the pipeline which the government is currently consulting on for courses for 2017/2018 entry. At the Open Day, a finance talk will explain these changes to prospective applicants to show how nursing is an attractive option to study. Nursing courses at UWE Gloucester currently have 100% employment rate and careers in nursing have excellent prospects.
