Top award for robotics experts

Issue date: 01 June 2016

Robotics experts from the Bristol Robotics Laboratory have won the 'Best Medical Paper Award' at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation - ICRA 2016, one of the world's largest robotics conferences with some 2,500 delegates, that was held in Stockholm last month.

Dr Sanja Dogramadzi, Dr Ioannis Georgilas, Dr Giulio Dagnino, Prof Roger Atkins and Paul Kohler won the award for their paper entitled 'Image based Robotic System for Enhanced Minimally Invasive Intro- Articular Fracture Surgeries'.

Team leader Dr Sanja Dogramadzi says she is delighted with this very significant accolade. She says, “This is a result of a three year NIHR/i4i funded project to create a new system to assist orthopaedic surgeons with fracture management. Fracture incidence in the UK is directly linked to the rising ageing population. This is a great recognition of our pioneering work in this area.”
