Over the past two years, over 300 UWE Bristol students have taken part in opportunities to work and study abroad, with over 100 of those with the British Council.

Expand your horizons, build your skills, boost your CV and see the world!

Some applications are open already and other opportunities open shortly. Don't let money worries stop you many opportunities are either fully or partially funded by the British Council. You may also be eligible for the UWE Go Global Bursary which provides up to £1,000 of additional funding.

Where do you want to go?


Immerse yourself in a new culture whilst developing valuable skills for the future.

Study: The Study in China programme offers the chance to access scholarships to study between 5 and 12 months in a variety of subject areas and locations. Applications open on 15 January 2016.

Internships: There's a wide range of two month internships - gain work experience in an industry of your choice in one of six booming cities across China. Applications are open all year round.

Discover the real India and experience one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Teaching assistantships, short courses at Indian universities, cultural immersion placements and internships are on offer.

Teach in India applications are open until 19 February 2016.
Study and working in India applications open in February and close in March.

English Language Assistants - Spain and China

The English Language Assistants programme provides a unique opportunity to become immersed in another culture and gain transferable skills for the future.

With paid placements, and teaching hours limited to 12-20 per week, you'd be able to learn and develop both personally and professionally, while taking the time to fully experience living in another country.

Work in a Thai school as an English Teaching Assistant and become an integral part of life in a Thai town or village. You'll support the teaching of English at either a primary or secondary school by working alongside a Thai teacher.
