New development bank for Wales recommended to drive forward business growth

A task and finish group led by a professor from the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) has recommended that the first regional development bank in the UK should be created as a catalyst to drive the Welsh economy. Professor Dylan Jones-Evans' led a group of experts to examine concerns firms in Wales were failing to borrow the money they needed to expand and take on more staff. They have recommended that Wales becomes the first part of the UK to bring in a Development Bank to address this issue.

UWE expert wins funding for research into personalised medicines

Dr Wendy Phillips from the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) is part of a new link-up between academia and industry to improve the efficiency of healthcare product manufacturing.
The project won £465,000 funding from the Engineering and Physical Services Research Council (EPSRC) to research Re-Distributed Manufacturing (RDM) in Healthcare. The project is being led by Dr Phillips, together with Professor Nick Medcalf from Loughborough University.

Silence is golden: new study explores the meanings of introversion in management education

Researchers from UWE Bristol are beginning an innovative study about introversion in Management Learning, Leadership, and the Teaching of Business Studies.
The project is led by Eda Ulus (Senior Lecturer), and Inge Aben, (Lecturer) in Organisation Studies in the Faculty of Business and Law at UWE, who are passionate about exploring introversion in a variety of learning and management contexts.
