easyJet partners with Bristol Robotics Laboratory to apply latest, cutting-edge technology for first time in aviation

easyJet, the UK's largest airline, has today announced it is working with the Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL), a partnership between the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), to modify existing technology so that drones can be employed to inspect its fleet of 220 Airbus aircraft. The innovative technology will help the airline to operate even more efficiently, reducing delays while maintaining its industry leading punctuality and safety records.

Robots vs Animals: The Bristol Robotics Laboratory learning from the ingenuity of nature

The special skills of animals are to be judged against that of robots in an exciting new project involving The Bristol Robotics Laboratory(BRL) and Bristol ZooGardens.
The Robots vs Animals project, funded by theRoyal Academy of Engineering's public engagement grant scheme, Ingenious, will see engineers and roboticists collaborate with zoologists to showcase how humans have learnt from the ingenuity of nature. The team from BRL and Bristol Zoo will develop interactive events that explore nature-inspired robots.

Bristol Robotics Lab to help train next generation of engineers and scientists

UWE Bristol and the University of Bristol will be hosting a new joint Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) that will train at least 50 PhD engineering and science students over the next eight years.
The new Centre in Future Autonomous and Robotic Systems, known as FARSCOPE, will be led by Dr Arthur Richards of the University of Bristol and is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The new Centre will be based at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL), an existing joint venture between the two Universities.

Broken bones could be mended with robot-assisted surgery

A robotic system that could help surgeons put joint fractures back together using a minimally invasive approach, will be the first robot-assisted system designed to deal with this problem.
The system is being developed at Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) in collaboration with a leading orthopaedic surgeon, a company specialising in orthopaedic devices and University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trusts.
