UWE Bristol award Honorary Degree to Wendy Darke

UWE Bristol awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Arts to Wendy Darke in recognition of her inspirational achievement in bringing the Natural World to audiences worldwide.
The Honorary Degree was conferred at the Awards Ceremony of the Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education on Monday 13 July 2015 at Bristol Cathedral.

UWE students design new Bristol Pounds

Two of the new designs for the #NewBristolPounds released on Wednesday 1 July [2015] are by students from UWE Bristol.
The competition received over 300 entries from artists, amateur and professional, and school children. An independent panel of eight judges selected the eight designs to feature on the new paper Bristol Pounds.

UWE Bristol Creative Industries Degree Show

Over 500 Art, Design and Media graduates will showcase their final pieces of work at this year's UWE Bristol Creative Industries Degree Show. The show is being held at the Bower Ashton Campus, near Ashton Court, and at Spike Island in South Bristol from Saturday 6 June to Friday 12 June 2015. Admission is free.

Award successes for UWE Bristol Graphic Design students

Graphic Design Students at UWE Bristol have been recognised nationally and internationally in the RSA Student Design Awards and the International Society of Typographic Designers Student Asseeement (ISTD).
Six final year UWE students on the BA (Hons) Graphic Design programme have won prestigious national awards in the RSA Student Design Awards, which provide financial and practical assistance to student designers starting out in their careers.

UWE Bristol students reach top five in House of Illustration Competition

Two students currently studying Illustration at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) have won the runners-up prize (£500) in the House of Illustration Competition, run in partnership with the Folio Society. This competition is open to professional illustrators as well as students, consequently they were up against some tough and talented competition. The other three finalists are all professional illustrators.

Arnolfini present major new Richard Long exhibition

Arnolfini Centre for Contemporary Arts in Bristol announces a major new exhibition of work by Richard Long. Part of the programme celebrating Bristol's year as European Green Capital, TIME AND SPACE includes several new works and recreations of previous works that have been made for this exhibition, and will be accompanied by a new publication. Richard Long was born in Bristol, where he continues to live and work and this will be the most comprehensive exhibition by the artist in his home city since 2000. TIME AND SPACE will run from 31 July – 15 November 2015. Arnolfini and UWE Bristol have announced an exciting new partnership which will enhance the art and cultural offer on the harbourside in Bristol, which will be fully agreed in the Spring.

The partnership, which will be agreed in full in spring, will see the two organisations sharing resources and facilities and collaborating on programming and education workshops, seminars and events, and academic research. The combined creativity and resources of both organisations will enable both institutions to offer a dynamic programme of exhibitions, talks and other activities to an increased audience.
