Masculinity and the link with the banking crisis

An article on the role of masculinity in the ongoing financial crisis has been published in the July issue of Organisation journal. The article, entitled 'Managing Masculinity/Mismanaging the Corporation' is, according its co-author, Professor David Knights from UWE Bristol, highly topical due to the range of current issues surrounding banking, the LIBOR rate and executive bonuses.

Attendees were introduced to the principles and issues of bringing sustainable development into teaching across a range of subject areas.

UWE Bristol student Andrew Pozzi wins Gold in 110m hurdles

British hurdling athlete, Andrew Pozzi, who is a student at UWE Bristol struck Gold and smashed the record in the 110m Hurdles final at the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) outdoor championships last weekend (5-6 May 2012), at the Olympic Stadium in London.

Get Paid: UWE Bristol researcher, Dr Salima Paul, provides trade credit advice for small businesses

UWE Bristol's Dr Salima Paul, in collaboration with Professor Rebecca Boden (University of Roehampton), has published a report, 'Getting Paid: lessons for and from SMEs', commissioned and funded by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). This was the first major qualitative study of the problems faced by UK businesses being paid late. Dr Paul interviewed 40 UK firms and their larger suppliers to gain a better understanding of the factors that influence payment arrangements and relationships between companies.

UWE Bristol student Andrew Pozzi shines at the World Indoor Championships

British hurdling athlete, Andrew Pozzi made an impressive senior debut finishing fourth in the 60m hurdles final at the recent Word Indoor Championships in Istanbul. Competing against the world's best, Andrew twice broke his personal best to achieve a new time of 7.56s in the lead up to the final.

UWE Bristol wins two Intellectual Property Awards

UWE Bristol has received two prestigious awards from the Intellectual Property Office for the Bloodhound@University project and a joint win for the Knowing and Growing project which is a collaboration with the University of York, the University of Sheffield and Southampton Solent University. UWE Bristol is the only university in the UK to pick up two Intellectual Property Awards.
