An international cricket tournament for street children taking place in England in the first week of May is to include a team from Bangladesh, which the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) is sponsoring. Children involved will play in matches at two cricket grounds in Cambridge during the one-week Street Child Cricket World Cup, which culminates in the final at Lord's cricket ground in London.

UWE Bristol student, Mohamed Elshorbagy, has topped the Professional Squash Association's (PSA) World Rankings, following his victory at the 2014 Delaware Investments US Open in Philadelphia.
Mohamed is based in Bristol whilst studying for his MSc in Finance at the University of the West of England, and is currently on a scholarship through UWE's High Performance Athlete Programme, which supports top performing athletes across all sports.

Gymivate gets people moving in the right direction

UWE Bristol's Centre for Sport opened its doors to its second Gymivate campaign in February. Thanks to £7,200 worth of funding from Sportivate, and with space for 100 participants aged 18-25, Gymivate provided a six week gym membership for just £5 per person.

UWE Bristol Atlantic Challenge rowers return to UK on Saturday

UWE Bristol students Hannah Lawton and Lauren Morton of Team Inspirational Friends will return to the UK at 07:30 on Saturday 29 March, after their incredible Atlantic Challenge adventure. The girls had hoped to row from La Gomera to Antigua as the youngest all female team ever to complete the challenge, but their attempt was scuppered through a series of unfortunate events, that led to them having to abandon their boat after 96 days.

UWE Bristol rowers abandon Atlantic Challenge after an incredible 1,000 mile adventure

Two brave students from the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) have had to call it day in their attempt to row across the Atlantic from La Gomera to Antigua as part of the Talisker Grand Atlantic Challenge. After more than 90 days at sea on a journey that has been beset with problems the rowing duo for team Inspirational Friends has had to abandon their attempt. They are currently sailing to Canada on a Belgian ship and should reach land in the next couple of weeks.
