UWE Bristol ranked 7th in England for student satisfaction

The University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) is ranked 11th of all UK universities for overall student satisfaction and 7th of all universities in England, according to the National Student Survey (NSS) 2019 which has been published today (3 July).

UWE Bristol scored 88% for overall student satisfaction and over the past few years has significantly increased its overall score from 84% in 2014. The Office for Students have rated UWE Bristol as 'significantly better than the benchmark', with the average overall satisfaction score across the higher education sector at 84%.

Professor Steve West, Vice-Chancellor of UWE Bristol, said:

“It takes a tremendous amount of collaborative effort to maintain our strong position in the NSS, so this is a great achievement and a reflection of how much we invest in our students' experience during their time with us.

“This result adds to a very successful year for UWE Bristol, including being ranked as 28th out of 121 universities in the UK in the Guardian university league tables 2020. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our staff for all their hard work, passion and commitment in achieving these fantastic results.”

The NSS, carried out by the Office for Students on behalf of the UK funding and regulatory bodies, is one of the biggest student surveys in the world which captures the views of over 330,000 students across the UK. 72% of eligible students from 403 universities, colleges and private providers took part.

The annual survey sees students reflect on their time at university, offering their verdict on topics ranging from teaching and assessment to resources and academic support. It was introduced in 2005 to help inform the choices of prospective students and assist universities in enhancing student experience.
