Student Volunteering Week

Issue date: 08 February 2019

Student Volunteering Week runs from Monday 11 February - Sunday 17 February 2019. The week celebrates the positive impact that student volunteering has on students' wellbeing and employability, as well as its contribution to the wider community.

This year marks the 18th year of Student Volunteering Week, and the whole of the UK will be getting involved. If you don't already volunteer, it's a great time to get started!

Why volunteer?

People volunteer for a wide range of reasons. For some it's the feeling of giving back to a local community or to develop their skills. For others it's about meeting new people.

Here are some of our top reasons why you should volunteer:

  • Give back to an organisation that's helped you directly or indirectly
  • Make a positive difference to people's lives
  • Play a part in helping the environment
  • Help those who are less fortunate
  • Gain some confidence
  • Develop your skills
  • Gain some work experience
  • Meet new people
  • Get to know the local community
  • Share your talents with others
