February Feel Good Focus: Feel Good this February!

Issue date: 04 February 2019

It's said that February is the month with the lowest mood averages, but not here at UWE Bristol, as it's Feel Good February!

This year we're delighted to announce the relaunch of Feel Good February with a new look and bigger events as part of our Mental Wealth First strategy. We have a full month of free activities designed to inspire and empower you to 'feel good' and look after your health and wellbeing.

Why are we doing it?

Inspired by the '5 Ways to Wellbeing' designed by the World Health Organisation, the Healthy University team will be running four themed weeks over February focusing on relaxing, eating well, getting active and trying something new.

What's on?

Each week will have a main event happening on the Thursday with extra activities which aim to inspire and empower you with ways to look your own health and wellbeing.

During February, there will be over 500 prizes and freebies to win at the main events and on social media! Come along to the events or use the hashtag #UWEFeelGood telling us how you're looking after your health and wellbeing this February.

Get a head start

Start carving out your own health and wellbeing priorities before the events kick off!

Here are some of the reasons why we're focusing our energies on these four main areas and how you can make a start on them now:

  • Managing stress is vital for your mental health and wellbeing
  • It's a positive thing to talk, seek help, or engage in activities that benefit your mental health
  • Everybody deserves a break - taking time out can re-energise you
  • Manage your stress levels with self-care strategies that work for you
  • Everyone has their own ways to relax - we'll empower you to find yours

Eat well

  • How energised and healthy you feel is down to how you fuel your body
  • Try going veggie or vegan to help the environment
  • Stay hydrated for a healthy body and a clear mind
  • Eat a balanced diet for good mental and physical health

Get active

  • Exercise boosts your mood by releasing 'feel good' endorphins
  • Regular activity is a great way to manage stress and let off some steam
  • Get outdoors - it's proven to be beneficial for your mental health
  • Connect with others at an exercise class, sports club or group walk

Try something new

  • We have a huge range of exciting activities you can get involved in
  • Challenge yourself with a new activity - you'll leave feeling accomplished
  • Connect with new people who share your interests
