Issue date: 05 October 2018

Our annual Meet the Employers Fair has become the largest careers fair in the South West - and we run it exclusively for you. It's on Wednesday 17 October between 11:00 - 15:00 at the Exhibition and Conference Centre, Frenchay Campus - make sure it's in your diary!

How to prepare for the Fair

The Fair is a great opportunity to line up some work experience and to make connections with companies you might want to work for in the future.

- Update your CV - our Careers Toolkit on InfoHub has plenty of tips to get you started. You should also update your LinkedIn profile.
- Use the list of employers to figure out who you want to speak to. Spend some time researching them and get some questions ready.
- Build your elevator pitch - create a 60 second summary about yourself and your goals to get the conversation started. You'll find an elevator pitch builder on our Careers Toolkit.
- Book to attend talks via the Career Fair Plus app

Talk to a range of employers

Many employers don't mind which course you're studying. They'll be recruiting for all areas of their business - for example, an accounting firm might have opportunities in their human resources, marketing or IT departments. So don't dismiss a company before you talk to them - and don't restrict yourself to your subject area either.

Throughout your course you'll be developing all sorts of transferable skills that employers want, so there's a huge range of opportunities open to you. Talking to employers can help you get a feel for different roles and sectors, so you're a bit clearer on what you want to do in the future.

How to get there

The Fair is held at the Exhibition and Conference Centre, Frenchay Campus. Frenchay Campus is well served by buses to and from our other campuses and the city centre - check our travel and transport information for details.
