  • Windrush Generations Project Arts and Activism

    The 6th workshop. Guest lecture by Cleo Lake, Cleo Lake is an artist, activist and politician and prominent campaigner and activist in Bristol.

    A professional dancer and artists she has been involved in a number of cultural projects and activities including St Pauls Carnival and a Director of Black Artists on The Move. She was the first Black female Lord Mayor in Bristol and she is a Green Party Councillor for the Ashley Ward in Bristol. She is currently co-leading an educative and engagement initiative - Project TRUTH Telling Restoring Understanding our Tapestry and History. It aims to encourage Afrikan heritage citizens of Bristol to share their thoughts and opinions to make clear recommendations about how Bristol recognise its role and legacy in the Transatlantic Trafficking of Enslaved Afrikans (TTEA), also known as the Transatlantic slave trade. Cleo is also a UWE Bristol Alumni.
