Description:

Are you working on a dissertation or final year project? Do you feel like you have lots of reading to do? This reading retreat is a space for you to focus on your reading. Providing a quiet time to dedicate to reading, this structured session will help you focus on what you want to learn, make sense of what you are reading and consider how it fits in to what you already know.

  • You must bring at least two texts that you want to read during the session.
  • This is not a drop-in or teaching session.

Session objectives:

This session aims to:

  • Provide quiet time for you to focus on the two pieces of reading you have brought.
  • Include some short activities to help you focus on what you want to gain from your reading and to make sense of it.

This retreat will take place online in Blackboard Collaborate – guidance on using Collaborate is available. It will have interactive elements and we recommend that if possible you use a laptop or PC with Chrome or Firefox as your browser. You can access session materials beforehand from the Study Skills Blackboard course.
