Essential attributes of an active researcher include the ability to develop networks of contacts, to establish and maintain collaborations with other researchers whether academic, industry or community-based and the ability to communicate effectively in collaborative research projects. Aspects of building networks and working with other researchers are investigated in this workshop and it will also touch on public engagement, dissemination and outreach from collaborative research. As communication is at the heart of collaboration the workshop, delivered by Professor Richard McClatchey, will look at how we describe our research e.g. in an elevator pitch and via abstracts and how we can build teams and manage collaboration effectively over time.

Case studies will be presented through short chalk and talk sessions and group exercises will provide the opportunity of learning together.

Aimed at UWE Bristol Postgraduate Researchers and post-doctoral researchers who want to enrich and extend their research.

Joining instructions will be sent to participants nearer the time.

This workshop is part of Invest In Yourself, UWE Bristol's specially designed programme of professional and personal development activities for researchers at all stages of their research career.
