Recovery from the global pandemic; the impact of accelerated megatrends

Mike will provide his perspective of the impact of the global health crisis and other megatrends on businesses in the infrastructure sector - particularly on how a global engineering, management and development consultancy is using their purpose to make a positive difference. In this he will consider resilience to future pandemics and the impact of climate change, the energy transition, responses to inequality and the pace and scale of digitalisation.

Event Entry and Live Stream

Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis for those that have registered. Not everyone who has registered will turn up, so to ensure we have a full house, we allow more registrations than there are places. Please ensure you arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time of the lecture to avoid disappointment. If you arrive late and the lecture theatre is full, you may be able to watch the talk from the live streaming room.


Mike Haigh is the Executive Chair of Mott Macdonald, a leading global engineering, management and development consultancy, operating in over 100 countries with 16,000 employees. Mike is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, a former Chair of the UK Association for Consultancy and Engineering and a member of both the World Economic Forum's Net Zero Carbon Cities Steering Board and the Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders.

His experience working and living in many countries has made him an active campaigner for a more integrated infrastructure industry, underpinned by a diverse, inclusive and digitally enabled workforce. Mike has twice been voted by the Women's Business Council and Management Today as one of 30 Agents of Change for his efforts in tackling gender inequality in the workplace.

About the Bristol Distinguished Address Series

The Bristol Distinguished Address Series provides a unique opportunity to hear about the challenges, issues and decisions being made at the highest level of strategic leadership.

The series is delivered by the Bristol Business School in partnership with ACCA, Bristol City Council, Bristol Creative Industries, Bristol Junior Chamber, Bristol Law Society, Business West, CBI, CIPD, CIPFA, CMI, FSB, IoD, ICAEW and the West of England Combined Authority.
