Open access: opening up academic research to the public

This event has now passed.

Date: 11 November 2020
Venue: Online event (register via email)
Time: 18:30-19:30

Traditionally, academic research was hidden behind paywalls and only available to those institutions and individuals who subscribed to journals. Open access publishing allows publicly funded research to be read by the public. More and more funding bodies are requiring grant holders to publish in this way. The race to find a vaccine and treatments for COVID 19 has made the need to share research more widely even more apparent.

Join representatives from the research support teams at the University of the West of England and the University of Bristol in an online presentation on how to uncover open access resources for your own personal research.

We will be exploring ways to access academic research online as well as providing guidance on how to interpret an academic paper.
