Baby Chimp rescue

Baby Chimp Rescue, airing on BBC 2 this month, follows the story of life in a home for orphaned baby chimpanzees run by vet Jimmy Desmond and his wife Jenny. The Desmond's home is bursting at the seams with 21 orphans to look after. Sadly, many of the chimp babies lost their mothers before they were able to learn key skills, and will not be able to return to the wild.

Professor Ben Garrod, evolutionary biologist and conservationist, helps Jimmy and Jenny teach the chimps vital life lessons such as climbing, foraging for food and recognising danger. Together, the team hope that the chimps will grow up to live independent lives within their new home.

Join us for an episode screening followed by Q&A with BAFTA-winning UWE Bristol alum Lindsey Parietti and Lynn Barlow, the University's Assistant Vice-Chancellor Creative and Cultural Industries.

Lindsey conceived the original idea for the series whilst studying her Wildlife Filmmaking master's course. She then became part of the BBC Natural History Unit crew who produced the show. Lynn is a Royal Television Society and Grierson award-winning journalist and broadcaster. Her career spans newspapers, radio and television.
