Essential attributes of an active researcher include the ability to develop networks of contacts, to establish and maintain collaborations with other researchers whether academic, industry or community-based, and the ability to communicate effectively in collaborative research projects.

Aspects of building networks and working with other researchers will be investigated in this workshop and it will also touch on public engagement, dissemination and outreach from collaborative research. As communication is at the heart of collaboration, the workshop, delivered by Professor Richard McClatchey, will look at how we describe our research, eg in an elevator pitch, via abstracts, and how we can build teams and manage collaboration effectively over time. Case studies will be presented through short chalk and talk sessions and group exercises will provide the opportunity of learning together.

Aimed at Postgraduate Researchers and Post-doctoral Researchers who are keen to enrich and extend their research.
