Description:

This workshop is suitable for all subjects and all levels of study.

This workshop will help you to create effective search strategies and develop your database searching skills. There will be an opportunity for hands-on practice. A librarian will be able to advise on your specific search needs. Please bring your own laptop (some PCs will also be available for your use).

Towards the end of the session, we will look at options to manage your references if you are producing a longer piece of work such as a dissertation, Level 3 extended project or thesis. You can set up an account for RefWorks, the bibliographic software UWE Bristol recommends for this purpose

  • Identify relevant subject databases and develop an effective search strategy.
  • Search for journal articles and manage your references.
  • Understand which transferable skills this session will teach you for use in your future employment.
