Description

This workshop is useful if you are new to higher education or if you have been told that your work contains too much description and not enough evaluation, i.e. you are not writing critically.

Please use the following links to access the course materials: workshop slides and activity sheet.

Objectives

  • Identify what is meant by critical thinking and reading
  • Distinguish between descriptive and critical writing
  • Identify the language of evaluation used in critical writing
  • Understand which transferable skills this session will teach you for use in your future employment.

Attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance, which contributes towards the UWE Futures Award.

*A video-intercom has been fitted at the Prince Street entrance and links to the InfoPoint on the fourth floor. UWE Bristol visitors, or students/staff who have forgotten their swipe cards should use this to gain access to the building, reporting to InfoPoint on the fourth floor to be issued with a temporary/visitor swipe card. These need to be returned at the end of the day.

If you have any questions or any accessibility needs, please do contact UWE Bristol library.

If you can't make this date, try an alternative campus or get in touch via Ask a Librarian.
