Will increasing flexible working help to close the gender pay gap?

In partnership with the Bristol Women's Commisson, the Women in Business Task Group is delighted to invite you to a panel discussion regarding flexible working and the gender pay gap. The aim of this event is to develop the knowledge and confidence of attendees about the benefits of flexible working for employers. We know that there are various forms of flexible working operating successfully in a diverse range companies in Bristol and that this is good for employees and for business.

Given the current interest about the Gender Pay Gap and the discussions about how to support the gender diversity of the workforce at all levels, we have decided to focus on this topic. We know that working practices like fixed hours have held women back in the workplace and that there is an impact on women's pay of their tendency to have move into lower paying and part-time roles once they've had children, or to leave the workforce altogether.

We believe that promoting flexible working as a way to support the ability of all employees to achieve greater balance and fulfilment will also help businesses to achieve greater success.

The event will be followed by a networking session with refreshments, leading into the Bristol Distinguished Address by Inga Beale DBE, CEO, Lloyds of London.

About the Women in Business Task Group

The Women in Business Task Group is part of the Bristol Women's Commission. Our aim is to take action and adopt pioneering approaches within the city of Bristol which will bring about positive change for women in business. We are a diverse group, including female business leaders from across the region, chaired by Donna Whitehead, the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of the West of England.

Our current focus includes the promotion of flexible working, increasing the number of women on boards and mentoring for young women.
