As first semester is ending, our thoughts turn towards the festive period, take the opportunity to use this break to look after yourself.

This month's Feel Good Focus is all about unwinding, taking time for yourself and recharging your batteries to get ready for January (and January exams for some).

Top tips to help you relax over the break

Stop multi-tasking

At university, it's easy to get snowed under with deadlines and exams. Take the opportunity to slow down and maybe come up with a revision timetable to plan your time, factoring in time with friends, family and relaxing.

Treat yo'self

You've worked hard this semester so take time out to treat yourself. Take a hot bath, go to your favourite restaurant or buy yourself a little gift. Make yourself feel good!

Keep active

When it's dark and cold outside, exercise may be the last thing you feel like doing but it's important to keep active to help manage stress- not to mention the physical benefits.

Why not go ice-skating with friends or go on winter walks with family? There are plenty of home exercises you can do too.

Be social

Grab a coffee or go for dinner with friends. Make sure you make the effort to catch up; especially with friends, you've not seen in a while.

Read a book

Reading can help you relax and take your mind off the stresses of real life. It may even help you sleep better. Find out what the best reads of this year are.

Binge watch

Bring watch your favourite Netflix series that you've been dying to watch all semester.
