Year 12 girls are invited to "Women in Engineering Schools Residential event", to explore engineering in an open, friendly and interactive environment. The event will be built around a Green Energy Challenge - what are the engineering challenges we face in generating green energy?

Women in Engineering Summer School 2015

The purpose of the summer school is to give Year 12 girls an opportunity to find out more about engineering in an open, friendly and interactive environment. It will provide the opportunity to meet current engineering students and recent graduates, to participate in an engineering challenge which will stimulate and stretch them, to see something of Bristol and to have a taste of university life.

This year's challenge, which links to Bristol being Green Capital of Europe 2015, is around the engineering challenges of providing truly green energy. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the issues around sustainable energy, to learn some modelling techniques and to take part in practical experiments to verify their models. They will also see some of the cutting edge research energy-related projects taking place at UWE and have the opportunity to visit sites of relevance to the green energy topic in Bristol. The event will culminate with a chance to present their work to each other and to a panel of experts.
