Java allows Blackboard to function properly.

If you have Java installed you can enable it by following the instructions below. Please note that if you had JavaScript disabled in the test above, this Java test will not perform.

To enable Java:

PC

Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8 and 9

  1. Select ‘Tools’ on the browser menu
  2. Select ‘Internet Options’
  3. Click the ‘Security’ tab
  4. Select ‘Custom level’
  5. Under ‘Scripting’, ensure that the Java Applet radio button is set to ‘Enable’. Select ‘OK’
  6. You may need to re-start your browser

Firefox (3.0+)

  1. Select ‘Tools’ on the browser menu
  2. Select ‘Options’
  3. Select the ‘Content’ tab
  4. Set the ‘Enable Java’ field to be checked
  5. Select ‘OK’

Mac

Safari

  1. Select ‘Safari’ on the browser menu
  2. Select ‘Preferences’
  3. Click the ‘Security’ tab
  4. Check box ‘Enable Java’

Your operating system has not been recognised as being supported by Blackboard. However, it still MAY be compatible (we usually recommend using Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 for PC - and OSX 10.5 or OSX 10.6 for Macs)
