Every effort is made to provide maximum availability for Blackboard. However, there are times at which the system will be unavailable. These are as follows:
- During University-wide planned maintenance - dates are posted on the IT Services webpage Scheduled Interruptions of Service.
Advance notice of all forthcoming planned maintenance weekends will be displayed on the Blackboard Welcome tab.
- In the rare event of an unexpected interruption to Blackboard or a supporting system, Blackboard may not be available, or may function erratically.
If this happens, every effort will be made to provide advice via an announcement in myUWE if available or on the university home page. This advice will generally be more reliable in office hours.
While every effort is made to ensure the availability of Blackboard, at critical times you are strongly advised to create local copies of essential course materials from time to time to ensure you have access to them in the event of an unavoidable outage. Staff are also advised to retain local copies of course materials and to export a local copy of their courses. For further information, please see our Exporting and Importing Courses guidance.
