Bristol Business School, a Faculty of the University of the West of England (UWE), has formed an undergraduate partnership with leading Malaysian higher education institute, Taylor’s College.

The first of its kind for Bristol Business School, the partnership will enable students at Taylor’s Kuala Lumpur campus to study for either the three year UWE BA (Hons) in Business Administration or the BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance. Students undertaking the BA (Hons) in Business Administration will spend their final year of study at the Business School’s Bristol campus, whilst those studying for the BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance also have the option to complete their final year in Bristol.

The aim of the collaboration is to provide students who would otherwise not be able to benefit from British higher education, the chance to enjoy a learning experience, which is the same in almost every respect as their Bristol based peers.

Taylor’s College are provided with all the necessary learning and support materials and training to deliver the programmes. They also undertake the same assessments as UK students and use the same examination boards to ensure standards are maintained. In addition, UWE academic, administrative and library staff will make regular visits to Taylor’s College, in support, Taylor’s staff will also make frequent trips to Bristol.

Registered as University of the West of England students, undergraduates at Taylor’s College studying for a Bristol Business School degree can also access additional resources on-line through the School’s virtual learning environment, UWEonline. By logging on to the internet based system, students can view and download learning materials and information relating to the programme and modules they’ve selected.

Commenting on the partnership, Warwick Jones, Associate Dean at Bristol Business School, said: “We are pleased to be partnering with an institution of the calibre of Taylor’s College and it further strengthens the Business School’s international links. I am confident that the relationship will benefit students and staff at both organisations.

“This type of agreement is a first for Bristol Business School and part of a growing trend whereby international higher education institutes partner with UK universities, in order to provide their students with access to the best that the British education system has to offer.”
