Commenting on today's Times Table in which UWE rose three places the Vice Chancellor, Alfred Morris said: I am pleased to see that we have maintained and improved our position as a top ten ‘New University’ with an outstanding reputation for teaching quality: the best of any New University in the South West; comparable to Bristol and Exeter; and, ahead of the University of Bath!

Bristol UWE is well placed as competition for students intensifies next year with the introduction of higher tuition fees. The University has announced the fourth largest bursary scheme in the UK for 2006 entrants and the £100 million redevelopment of the Frenchay Campus will be completed in time for their arrival, including the 2000 en-suite room Freshers Village and a new Sports Centre

Applications to UWE are currently 15% up - twice the national average.
