Bristol UWE Postgraduate Open Evening
26 April 2005 – all Campuses, 16.00-20.00

The University of the West of England is anticipating its busiest postgraduate Open Evening ever as enquiries have been flooding in from ambitious graduates wanting to sharpen their marketability in the work place.

Every year UWE helps over 6,000 people achieve success in a wide range of professional, postgraduate and part-time programmes.

The Open Evening provides an opportunity to find out more about the Bristol UWE’s programmes of study from representatives of the 1,000 strong team of academics.

Dianne Francombe, Director of Admissions and International Recruitment at UWE says, “Postgraduate students come from all over the world and have an enormously varied range of experience. Students embark on postgraduate courses for many reasons including research aspirations, professional and personal development, as well as studying a subject for pure enjoyment and interest.”

Postgraduate profiles:

Jade Hotson

Jade Hotson is about to be admitted to the roll of a high street firm of solicitors. She was awarded an LLB (Hons) from UWE in 2001 and has since returned to take the PG Dip Legal Practice and the Professional Skills Course.

Jade said, “I initially chose UWE because of its location and the fact that it had a good reputation for Law. The Facilities were particularly good at post graduate level, the library is excellent and I was impressed with the professionalism of all of the teaching staff. I loved my time at UWE and chose to return there for a further two postgraduate courses. It has everything you need and the standards are high.

Jacqueline Sirota

Jacqueline Sirota took a masters degree in Group Relations and Society at the age of 60.

Jacqueline said, “I was attracted to the course because it was partly experiential and it brought together psychoanalytic theories, systems thinking and sociology. I enjoyed getting to know staff and students. The course, taken at a late stage in my life, has broadened my horizons and helped me to move into taking consultancy roles and research. I found the experience stimulating, exciting and terrifying and I’m enormously proud of surviving but thriving and growing in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
