UWE Bristol has been shortlisted for a national award by the Career Development Institute (CDI).
The Pre Higher Education Careers Service team are finalists in the UK Career Development Awards, in the category of 'Higher Education Widening Participation Pre-Entry Guidance Award'.
The Awards showcase the very best UK-wide practice in career development and are organised by the CDI, the single professional body for the sector.
The Pre-HE careers team aims to work with post-16 students in schools and colleges in Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Bristol to provide impartial, professional careers information, advice and guidance services. They also offer training for teachers and advisers with an update on HE choices and provision, as well as graduate destinations.
Maggie Westgarth, Head of Employability and Enterprise at UWE Bristol, said,“The work the Pre-HE Careers team is doing with schools and colleges in the region is raising awareness of the value of higher education as part of a career plan. There is a buoyant graduate job market in Bristol and we want local residents to be able to gain the higher level skills and knowledge needed to access these opportunities.”
The other finalists in this category are Ashton Sixth Form College, Realising Aspirations Programme and Goldsmiths - Pre entry guidance and MOOC at Goldsmith's, University of London
