A record number of employers from across the region were attracted to the fifth instalment of a popular business networking event hosted by the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol).

The Employer Networking Forum is staged to offer a relaxed and informative environment for business leaders and UWE Bristol staff to network, exchange knowledge and ideas, and foster collaborative partnerships.

This year's topic, chosen by previous attendees, was Talent Retention. David Beard, a Human Resources Management lecturer at UWE Bristol, delivered the keynote speech. Drawing on his substantial experience in the telecommunications sector, David explored the issues and practical solutions to embedding a culture of talent retention in the workplace.

A panel, made up of employers who have all successfully recruited over several graduate cycles and three UWE Bristol graduates, discussed their experiences and answered questions from the audience.

Of the event, held last month, a UWE Bristol spokeswoman said: “A record number of employers attended the event, which was very well received. One attendee told us the event had provided a great opportunity to network with other businesses and hear about their concerns and experiences. Another praised the atmosphere, telling us it was positive and relaxed.”

Preparations are now underway for the next Employer Networking Forum, due to take place in December.
