Rick Haythornwaite, Chairman of Centrica, is the latest speaker to address the business community at the Bristol Distinguished Address Series (BDAs). The event will be hosted by UWE Bristol's Faculty of Environment and Technology.

In his talk, 'Disruption and the Future of Leadership', Rick Haythornwaite, will discuss how disruption is rapidly becoming the new normal. Rick asks the question, 'What is the evolving nature of this disruption and what might be the implications in years to come, particularly with regard to leadership?'

Rick Haythornthwaite is Non-Executive Chairman of the FTSE 100 Centrica plc. He is also the Non-Executive Chairman of the global board at the NYSE-listed Mastercard Inc and Executive Chairman of the PSI operating businesses. In the not-for-profit sector, he is the Chairman of the Southbank Centre and the World Wide Web Foundation.

Rick was previously the CEO of Invensys from 2001-2005 and Blue Circle Industries from 1999-2001 having joined as Director of Asia and Europe in 1997. He spent his early career in BP from 1978-1995 before moving to Premier Oil as Commercial Director from 1995 to 1997. He has served on the boards of Network Rail as Chairman and Cookson, Lafarge, ICI and Land Securities as Non-Executive Director. He was educated at MIT (Sloan Fellow) and The Queen's College, Oxford (MA Geology).

The Bristol Distinguished Address Series (BDAs) is one of the highlights of the University calendar and is a unique opportunity to hear about the challenges, issues and decisions being made at the highest level of strategic leadership, directly from the leaders of organisations driving UK business performance. The series is delivered by the Bristol Business Schoolin partnership with ACCA,Bristol City Council, Bristol Junior Chamber,Bristol Post,Business West,CBI,CMI,FSB,ICAEW,IoD, and the West of England LEP.

Following the talk, there will be an opportunity for the audience to put forward their issues and questions at this event.
