Issue date: 22 May 2015

Professor Keith Grint

'Looking for a Map and finding a Mirror: The contradictions and complexities of decision-making'

Date: Wednesday 03 June 2015
Venue: Room 2B020, Frenchay campus
Time: 18:00 - 20:30

Professor Keith Grint, Head of Public Leadership at Warwick University Business School, is to consider the difficulties of decision making in times of uncertainty, during his lecture, held as part of UWE Bristol's Distinguished Professional Address Series (DPA).

In his talk, Professor Grint draws on ten years of 'theoretical floundering and empirical wandering' to suggest that our conventional desire for a contingency approach often exacerbates difficulties; theorising that we should instead accept that ambiguity is endemic to leadership and find ways to live with uncertainty.

Richard Bolden, Professor of Leadership and Management at UWE Bristol, said, We are delighted to welcome Professor Keith Grint to the University of the West of England. He is world-renowned for his ideas on leadership, which have significant relevance for theory, practice, policy and development. The subject of his most recent talk is something that will resonate with public, private and voluntary sector organisations alike. He is always an engaging speaker and we are expecting a lively and interesting debate.”

The Distinguished Professorial Address Series (DPA) provides a unique opportunity to hear about the latest cutting-edge research from the world's most renowned management research leaders and is free to attend.
