Matthew Layton, Managing Partner of Clifford Chance LLP,is the latest speaker to address the business community as part of the Bristol Distinguished Address Series (BDAs).

Matthew will deliver a lecture entitled; 'A journey of change – past, present and future – the development of the global legal market'. The event will be hosted by The Bristol Post.

The last three decades has seen the British legal industry and English law in the vanguard. The industry is now facing a decade of new challenges and opportunities with increasing competition and unprecedented disruption - from within and outside the market. Technology will be a major driver for change but transformation, innovation and cultural change within any professional services firm presents particular challenges. During this address, Matthew will reflect on the key elements of the successful development of the global legal market in the context of Clifford Chance and look forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the firm and the legal market.

The Bristol Distinguished Address Series (BDAs) is one of the highlights of the University calendar and is a unique opportunity to hear about the challenges, issues and decisions being made at the highest level of strategic leadership, directly from the leaders of organisations driving UK business performance. The series is delivered by the Bristol Business School in partnership with ACCA,Bristol City Council, Bristol Junior Chamber, Bristol Post,Business West, CBI,CMI,FSB,ICAEW, IoD, and the West of England LEP.

There will also be an opportunity for the audience to put forward their issues and questions at this event.

Matthew Layton became the Global Managing Partner of Clifford Chance in May 2014. Prior to that, he was the Global Head of the firm's Corporate/M&A practice from 2008.

Matthew has been with Clifford Chance since 1983 and a partner since 1991. His practice has included advising major international companies and private equity sponsors on all aspects of public and private M&A and related financing. Matthew is ranked in Private Equity International's 2013 Legal Power 30 as one of the most influential lawyers working in the private equity industry today.

Clifford Chance has over 3,400 fee-earners in 36 offices across 26 countries.
