'Feel Good' at UWE Bristol this February

Issue date: 27 January 2015

Students and staff from UWE Bristol are set to spring into action this month with a series of health and wellbeing events as part of Feel Good February.

Now in its ninth successful year, Feel Good February is an opportunity for students, staff and the local community to focus on their health, fitness and wellbeing through a wide range of activities, taster sessions and events to help them get active and 'feel good'.

Some of the free events and sessions taking place on Frenchay campus include: free Health MOTs and the national 'Love Your Liver' campaign, Feel Good Films at the SceneIT Cinema, and Glow Games at the Centre for Sport- get your glow sticks and UV face paint ready and have a go at playing volleyball, table tennis and badminton in the dark! There are wellbeing activities on Glenside and Bower Ashton campus, and take advantage of free travel advice and bike repairs by booking a session at the Travel Roadshows.

The Feel Good February Loyalty Card Scheme is back for its second year guaranteeing prizes for everyone who takes part. There are over 1,000 prizes on offer including iPad Minis, a gym membership, vouchers to spend on campus or in and around Bristol and much more, and participants only need one stamp to be in with a chance of winning. Students and staff simply collect a loyalty card from any UWE Information Point or Students' Union office and collect a stamp at each event they attend.

Lauren Conen, Healthy University Intern, says, “We're proud that we can offer such a wide range of free classes and sessions and would encourage everyone to make the most of Feel Good February. I personally can't wait to try out the free exciting events going on across all of UWE Bristol's campuses, plus this year it's even easier to win prizes then last year.”

Prizes will be awarded at a Celebration Event to mark the end of Feel Good February on 12 March 2015, 12:00-14:00 at the Community Hub.
